Lighting and Rendering: How Can Rendering Bring Your Lighting to Life?
by PORT on Jul 4, 2022 8:00:00 AM
Lighting has a transformative power, whether it’s in an office environment or an entertainment venue, on a building, or part of an event. Lighting can set a mood, highlight architectural elements, change the ambiance, direct customers, and create movement and visual interest.
Imagine the visual impact of a rainbow of lights illuminating a 10-story building at nighttime, a ballroom ceiling transformed into a twinkling starry night, an engaging moving light pattern on the outside of an entertainment venue, or purple and pink lights shining through an ice sculpture for a jubilant event focal point. However, making choices about what type and color of lighting elements to add and where to place them can be overwhelming, especially if you can’t quite visualize the results. That’s where rendering comes in.
Digital rendering can truly bring a lighting project to life. 3D rendering is the process of producing an image based on three-dimensional data stored on a computer to create still or animated pictures. Renderings for lighting projects can show you exactly what your plan will look like when it's complete, including the color of the light, how it will move if it’s not static, where it will be directed, and how it will illuminate an object or space.
Using renderings during the design phase allows entertainment or architectural lighting services to ensure they understand your vision. Renderings are especially crucial if your project includes movement or other changeable features. They also allow you to work with the designer to tweak color, brightness, or other variables to create the look you want.
