Design/Lighting Process
The design and illumination process for signs varies with each project because every sign is unique. Initially, we assess the feasibility and limitations of the sign’s design. For instance, some signs are internally illuminated, while others are backlit. These distinctions require us to tailor our approach for each individual project.
Understanding our clients’ needs is essential. Should the sign be color-changing or white? What are the clients’ desires, requirements, and vision for the sign? We prefer to collaborate with signage companies during the design process rather than after completion. This collaboration allows us to ensure the sign is illuminated correctly.
For example, with internally illuminated signs, we can coordinate to ensure the internal lighting is spaced appropriately, as this requires specific spacing to achieve an optimal appearance. Additionally, we can help signage companies select the right materials to ensure even lighting, avoiding hot spots or dead spots.
Why Collaborate With PORT
Collaborating with PORT Lighting offers sign companies unique advantages that set us apart. Our access to a wide variety of lighting products, thanks to our partnerships with leading manufacturers, enables us to meet specific color and design requests that standard options might not cover.
By incorporating RGBW lighting instead of the typical RGB, we ensure a superior white output, enhancing the overall quality of the signs.
Additionally, we bring advanced expertise in controls and programming, allowing us to tailor solutions that fit within your client’s budget and expectations. Our specialized control systems and programming capabilities offer seamless integration with other systems.
By partnering with us, you can focus on building the signs while we enhance them with exceptional lighting and technology, creating a winning combination that benefits both companies and delivers outstanding results for your clients.
Selecting Fixtures & Technologies
When choosing fixtures and technologies for signs, several key considerations come into play, including the fixture warranty, the sign’s location, the objectives of the sign, and accessibility.
The specific goal of the sign influences the selection of fixtures, as different fixtures offer varying intensities and beam spreads, impacting the density and brightness of the LEDs.
By carefully evaluating these factors, we ensure that the chosen technology meets the desired performance and visual impact.
